How to get a job in Dubai

1. Get a proper visa

If you’re dreaming to work in Dubai, you’ll need a work visa. If you’re employed by a Dubai company, you can easily obtain a work visa. It is easy to head to Dubai after you have been offered a position or you can visit on visitor or tourist visa for your job search and then transfer your visa status after you are hired by someone.
Most visitors to Dubai aren’t required to obtain a visa ahead of time; it can be issued to you upon arrival but citizens of India don’t have that privilege. It is necessary that you acquire a work visa because if you’re caught working on a tourist visa you can be jailed or fined and deported.

2. Get your health and labor cards

You need to submit your medical records, passport copies, photo, job offer letter and visa application to the Department of Health and Medical Services while your work visa is in process. You’ll also have to get some blood tests to rule out diseases like HIV, Hepatitis C, and tuberculosis. UAE doesn’t allow foreign carriers of those diseases to reside in the emirates. You’ll be issued a health card when you pass all the tests, which is mandatory for foreign workers in Dubai.
You’ll also need to get a labor card. You can get it by sending your passport photo, employment contract, entry visa, medical records and your employer’s labor license to the Ministry of Labor. You’ll also need a residence visa, which is issued by Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. For that, you’ll need to go in person and fill out a form, provide your passport, medical records, health certificate, original entry permit, passport photos, a copy of your labor card and the receipt from your labor card processing.

3. Apply online

To go on a job hunt it is better to start looking online to get an idea of what companies are hiring in Dubai, bayt.com, a favorite among Dubai job-seekers, is a good place to start.

Some other good sites for finding jobs are:
Dubai Task, Khaleej Times Jobs, Dubizzle, Naukrigulf, Indeed, Laimoon, LinkedIn, Gulftalent

4. Work on your CV

The most important tool in your job hunt will be your CV. It is very difficult to get a job in Dubai as the market is really competitive. On average, a recruiter will only spend ten seconds checking out your resume. It’s important to avoid major CV pitfalls, like using buzzwords.
“I’d rather see applicants present themselves in a more unique way, supported with facts such as targets realized, projects worked on, among others,” said Annalinde Nickisch of The Thought Factory in a recent interview with The Gulf News. Monster provide help to those who are looking to prepare a mind-blowing CV.

5. Network

Dubai is known for hiring internally and candidates who are strictly referred by some current working employee. If you know someone inside the company, you’re up to 6.6% more likely to get the job. If you have a good network or someone who can vouch for you then your chances of landing a job are much higher.

According to a survey, seven in ten people in Dubai have a “good job” – the type of job that offers a regular paycheque and allows an employee to work at least 30 hours a week. Dubai offers decent valuable jobs to everyone with many perks. It is a safe haven for everyone as the benefits it provides are numerous. You can roam around at any given hour without any problem in this culturally diverse country. More than 69% of the population have full – time jobs which are desired by every youth in our country and others.

Dubai is a city of high dreams and everyone wants to visit it for at least one time in their life. Not only for the wonderful chase it provides but also because it leaves no one unsatisfied.
